REACH Edmonton is mourning the passing of former Board Member, Grant Ericksen.

Grant was the kind of leader every organization hopes to find: generous, humble and deeply committed to making a difference. For six years, Grant served on the REACH board with wisdom, kindness and unwavering belief in the organization’s mission.  He also introduced REACH to his remarkable wife, Donna, whose own passion strengthened the organization even further.

In addition to serving on the REACH Board, Grant was a generous donor in the community. Together, Grant and Donna made an extraordinary investment in REACH’s vision by providing significant seed money to bring Empire Fighting Chance to Edmonton, a vital program supporting at risk youth. Their generosity inspired more investment, thereby creating a ripple effect that continues to change lives. Despite his many accomplishments as a highly successful businessman, Grant would invariably introduce himself as “just a used car salesman.”

“That was Grant: quick with a joke, happiest when others were receiving the recognition and always redirecting credit away from himself.  His humility was as remarkable as his generosity,” recalls Jan Fox, Executive Director of REACH Edmonton. “Grant wasn’t interested in accolades; he was interested in impact. He understood that real community change happens when people invest in one another, and he led by example every step of the way.”

Grant leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond REACH.  He was a true community change maker whose compassion, humour, and quiet leadership will continue to inspire all of us.

“I am profoundly grateful for his friendship,” says Jan. “We will always remember his service and the lasting difference he and Donna have made in the lives of so many.”
