EMMANUEL ONAH
Director, Community Initiatives

I’m the Director of Community Initiatives at REACH Edmonton Council for Safe Communities, where I help lead strategy and delivery across initiatives that strengthen community safety, inclusion, newcomer belonging, and youth well-being. My portfolio includes WrapED, Empire Fighting Chance, the Youth Gang Prevention Network, Youth Housing Upon Release, and school-based access initiatives such as the Out-of-School Time Collaborative.

Before joining REACH, I served as Director of Operations at the Africa Centre and co-founded the African Canadian Civic Engagement Council (ACCEC), where we helped launch the Timbuktu Innovation Hub. I hold a BA in Sociology with computer science coursework and was named Edify Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 (2024).

I’m passionate about building partnerships that turn good ideas into practical supports especially for young people and newcomers. What I love about working at REACH is collaborating across sectors and communities to create solutions that help people feel safe, connected, and able to thrive.
