Building Allyship & Mindful Solidarity Workshop
Date: Tuesday March 14th 2017 9:00 am to Tuesday March 14th 2017 12:30 pm
Place: Multipurpose Room 6, Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre
This workshop will explore the concepts of allyship and solidarity. Participants will examine the common critiques of allyship and explore ways through which we can be conscious of how we impact the spaces around us. This course does not offer a step-by-step list of how to be an ally, rather, we will problematize that and learn to be mindful in our work as allies.
Workshop Learning Objectives:
- Explore what it means to be an ally and examine the critiques of allyship
- Understand our own position of power and privilege, and how that relates to our position as an ally
- Develop and practice self-reflection skills to improve active listening
This half-day workshop is facilitated by Sahar Ibrahim.
Cost of the workshop: $35 for REACH Members; $45 for Non-Members
